Lion-like Boldness

Proverbs 28:1 "The wiched man flees though no one pursues, the righteous are as bold as a lion"

Why are the righteous bold? The righteous man doesn't have to cover his tracks. He doesn't have to look over his shoulder looking for those who are trying to get revenge and retribution for some foolish or evil act. He is not held back by the consequences of a sinful lifestyle.

The righteous are on the right side. They are on God's side. When you are walking righteously you are walking in step with God's principles and God's principles work. With Him on your side you cannot lose. Ultimately the righteous will come out on top. They will experience abundant joy and fruitfulness.

Wise Men Seek Him said...

Compare this Proverb with I Peter 5:5-10. A righteous man is a humble man. And a humble man experiences the undeserved goodness of God. He is exaled by God and cared for by Him. God has called him to his eternal glory, and will restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish the righteous man. What more would you need to be as bold as a lion?

Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for "God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble." 1Pe 5:6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, 1Pe 5:7 casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you. 1Pe 5:8 Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. 1Pe 5:9 Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world. 1Pe 5:10 And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.
